10 Todoist alternatives in 2026 — an honest list
Todoist Pro costs $5/month billed yearly ($7 monthly) and remains one of the best pure to-do apps. People leave it for three reasons: price, per-seat billing for shared work, and wanting goals or habits in the same app. Here are ten alternatives, honestly — including our own, with its weak sides named. Prices as of July 2026.
Full disclosure: this list is written by the makers of Netty.Today, which is item one. We name where each tool — ours included — is weaker, and we link a detailed side-by-side comparison.
1. Netty.Today — calm planner for tasks, family, teams and dreams
Free during the open period; planned plans from $1.99/mo. One calm app for the day list, goals on a month-quarter-year cascade, habit streaks, shared family lists and team kanban boards. Invited people join by link and pay nothing — one owner covers everyone. Offline-first, installs as a PWA, and speaks MCP so Claude or ChatGPT can manage your list. Weaker than Todoist at: integrations ecosystem, mobile widgets, and the brand-new product risk — Todoist has two decades of polish.
2. TickTick — the closest like-for-like swap
Premium $35.99/year. Tasks plus a genuinely good calendar view, pomodoro timer and habit tracker. The free tier caps at 9 lists and 99 tasks per list. Watch out for: weak team features and per-list sharing; no goal system.
3. Microsoft To Do — the free dependable one
Free. Clean, syncs with Outlook, My Day is a nice daily ritual. If your life runs on Microsoft 365, it is the obvious zero-cost answer. Watch out for: no goals, habits, boards or serious shared planning.
4. Notion — when you want to build your own system
Free solo; Plus $10–12/user/mo. Not a to-do app but a workspace constructor: databases, docs, templates. Powerful if you enjoy building. Watch out for: days of setup before you can simply plan today; limited offline; per-seat pricing for any shared space.
5. Things 3 — the beautiful Apple-only classic
One-time $9.99–49.99 per device, no subscription. Arguably the most polished personal task app ever made. Watch out for: Apple-only, no collaboration at all, no web version.
6. Any.do — assistant-flavoured simplicity
Premium $4.99–7.99/mo; Teams $4.99/user/mo. Friendly, WhatsApp-integrated, with a daily “moment” review. Family and small-team plans are cheap. Watch out for: depth — power users hit the ceiling quickly.
7. Habitica — when motivation needs a game
Free core; subscription $4.99/mo. Your tasks feed an RPG avatar; parties of friends keep each other accountable. Watch out for: real project work — tasks and boards are basic; the game either clicks for you or it does not.
8. Structured — the visual day timeline
Free core; Pro $6.99/mo or $29.99/year. Plans your day as a vertical timeline; lovely for time-blocking a school or clinic day. Watch out for: it is a day-shaper, not a task manager — no projects, labels or teamwork.
9. Trello — boards first, tasks second
Free; Standard $5/user/mo. The classic kanban. If your work is naturally “cards moving through columns”, it still shines. Watch out for: personal daily planning feels bolted-on; per-seat pricing.
10. Google Tasks — the minimal built-in
Free. Lives inside Gmail and Google Calendar, perfect for “remember milk”. Watch out for: that is the whole feature list.
